Episode 10: Reda Taleb

In this episode, Pauline Homsi Vinson interviews Reda Taleb about her children's book, Noura's Extraordinary Power. The book center's on 8 year old Noura as she discovers her "missing" father is actually incarcerated. Loosely based on her own family experience, Taleb aims to explain and unpack incarceration to youth of all ages.


About Reda Taleb:

Reda A. Taleb, is a native Detroiter, and the proud daughter of Lebanese Muslim immigrants. She is a strategic, transformative leader, with a history of over 15 years of nonprofit experience that spans civic, legal, entrepreneurial, and social justice movements Across the United States. Reda is the Founder/CEO of Dream Catcher Innovations™, and serves a national clientele with Nonprofit Development and Management, Program Design and Implementation, Strategy Development and Implementation, Fundraising, Social Impact Movement Building, DEI Advocacy, and Community Building. Reda also has her own podcast, “Tahrir wa al-hurriyah: Re-imagining the Struggle for Collective Liberation. ©™ In Arabic, Tahrir means Liberation and Hurriyah means Freedom. Using the power of storytelling, Reda’s podcast amplifies the impact of mass incarceration, the carceral state, and CVE policies on Arab-Americans and Muslims, while centering Islamophobia in the US. It is rooted in collective empathy, healing, and most importantly joy. The podcast is a project of Futuro Media, and Reda was selected as one of eight fellows for the Detroit Community Podcast Lab, which equips grassroots leaders with the skills and resources they need to successfully produce their own podcasts.

Reda is a graduate of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters at the University of Michigan, Dearborn, and she is here to talk to us today about her newly published children’s book: “Noura’s Extraordinary Superpower! A Book For Youth With Incarcerated Loved Ones And How to Activate The Innate Superpower of Empathy for Healing.”
