Dr. Wessam Elmeleigi is associate professor of Arabic Studies and comparative literature at the Department of Language, Culture, and the Arts, and the Director of the Center for Arab American Studies, as well as the director of the Arabic Translation Certificate, the Comparative Literature Certificate, and the Arabic Studies Major. He is the author of three books, The Poetry of Arab Women from the Pre-Islamic Age to Andalusa (2019), Cultural Identity in Arabic Novels of Immigration: A Poetics of Return (2020), and Dystopia in Arabic Speculative Fiction: A Poetics of Distress (2023). He is also a graphic novelist and artist and has published two graphic novels, Y and Y (2016) and Jamila (2017).
